About Dana

My name is Dana Dinh. I am a student at University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. (Go Trojans!)

I graduated from the International Baccalaureate Programme in 2016.

I am the former editor-in-chief of Red & Black, the student-run newspaper of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Fla. I have been awarded regional, state and national journalism honors by the Florida Scholastic Press Association and National Scholastic Association, including being named the third place Todd C. Smith Student Journalist of the Year. During my editorship, Red & Black was awarded four Best of Show awards at the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 National High School Journalism Conventions.

To learn more about my experience as a high school journalist, check out my personal essay, written for the Student Journalist of the Year judging committee.

Journalism has instilled me with a permanent love for telling stories with words and images. I plan to continue exploring my passion at USC and for the rest of my life.

I currently spend my days in sunny Los Angeles, but I’ve called both San Jose, Cal., and Tampa, Fla., my home where I grew up in a Vietnamese family. When I am not in class, I am often reading, blogging and playing tennis.
